Steak and dessert

It's always soooo interesting to see what people eat and where they eat. Today we find some really nice pictures from a new Louisville eatery called "732 Social". The attendees included Chef's Deb and Pete'.   I'm not entirely sure but I think it may have been a little bit of a celebration on Pete's (pronounced Pate's) recent inclusion of a mansion he built in a book called "Modern Houses in Louisville". The feast at 732 Social followed a lecture of modern homes by the writer and creator of the book.

Well worth the celebration. I wish that I could have personally attended and enjoyed the feast. In the meantime, I'll just have to dream on.

Neat Cheese Plate
Steak with Blue Cheese Sauce and Steak Frites
Mac and Cheese with Shrimp ??
Libation of course !
Could Pumpkin Ice Cream be one of these?

Tailgaiting and Vietnamese Cuisine

In the previous post I challenged Chef Pete' to let us know what he had to eat at the Vietnamese restaurant. As expected, he returns with a photo log of his day. I was sure that his tennis match in the a.m. would go unmentioned (unless he went to Hooter's) but the rest of the day was tailgaiting at the U of L football game, which transitioned into an evening at BASA, the Louisville Modern Vietnamese restaurant. Enjoy!!!

Modern Vietnamese

Chef Pete' gave me a heads up that they were going to experience "BASA" this evening. Dubbed a  Modern Vietnamese Restaurant in Louisville. Not to put the pressure on but I will remain curious to hear his review and his menu selections.   No pressure Jim but I am convinced that one of your selections will be:

Tuna tartare, with lime cilantro crème fraiche, fifty year old balsamic, pickled ginger & Kentucky paddle fish caviar

Check out the entire menu at http://www.basarestaurant.net/
I did, and my mouth is watering at the thought of the food.

Picnic at the Winery

In August Chef Pete' and others trekked about 35 miles outside of Louisville to the rural county of Henry. Why would anyone in their right mind do that? It was to attend a faux Beatles concert, meet and socialize with friends, picnic, and party at the Smith Berry Vineyard. (www.smithberrywinery.net).
We were so impressed at the descripton and the photos that we went with  the CHEF and others in September, with the only change being a "Motown" band and  perfect weather.
The deal is a modest fee (about 20 bucks each) which allows  admission, unlimited wine tasting, buffet, and entertainment. Guests seem to amplify that by bringing chairs, tables, appetizers, etc.  No coolers or alcoholic beverages are allowed but, hey, I didn't see anything.
It was a great time, nice venue, there was a dance floor filled with partiers. The food was good, a heck of a time, if I can brag just a little. I'd go back anytime. Turn the audio on and press Play to enjoy.

Pre Halloween Dinner

A casual dinner for 15 was hosted. Lovely, scrumptious looking salad. Very pretty. Accompanied by Chicken Tetrazeni. The dessert can only be construed as an idea that only Chef Pete' can construe. But, then again, Krispy Kreme had a booth at the 2010 Kentucky State Fair! What did they sell ??? Try burgers that used their donuts instead of buns. The line to get them always seemed long!!!!!!

Bed & Breakfast in Prescott, Arizona

Recently, Chefs Pete' and Deb  took off for a long weekend in Prescott, Arizona to hike, take in the views and experience the hospitality of B&B owners. I think you'll enjoy their brief travelogue. It tells the entire story. Be sure to go thru all the photos. The last one shows a very inventive idea in the shower and a GQ photo of Chef Pete' !!!!!!!!
